TV advert annalysis

1.       Realist Narrative,
This advert is for Playstation 4. What they have done here is advertise their new console by showing us the range they have had since 1995, going through 1 to 4. They set it in a room of a teenager and it begins with them playing Playstation 1 and bickering about it, then the camera pans to the window and the scenery changes, with things being built to represent time fast forwarding. They do this repeatedly whilst showing the room and how it evolves over the years. And to show that the Playstation evolves with them. I think this is a very good realist narrative due to the realism and the way it plain and simple to understand. It is also rather nostalgic too.

2.                Anti-realist narrative,
This is another Playstation advert, this time however they use more graphics to engage the audience, whilst also advertising the games during it. The use of the song also increases this. I feel that this advert is cleaver in the way that they gave it a story of two spending time together playing, but involve most of their featured games.

3.                Animation,
TSB.
When I found this advert I was unsure about it, I was looking for their shorter advert, however, once I sat through it, I very much liked the advert a as whole. In fact many aspects. Firstly I liked the adverts cartoon style, and how it is very colorful and creative, but then I feel the narrator adds in very interesting information. It almost relays the message that they want you to trust them as a bank, and find that they are always there for their customers. The addition of music is vital to the narrative, because it creates important emotions.

4.                Documentary,
Kia Sportage
I didn't much like this advert, however, it gave lots of information without much visual entertainment. It does however appeal to most older audiences due to it informative nature.

5.                Talking Heads,
Virgin
Virgin.
This advert is by virgin, and they usually like to drop celebrities into their adverts, such as David Tennant, but in this it's Stephen Fry, and here he is a "Ninja", and does a backflip. However, in real life, it's obvious that this is not true. I feel this advert is effective, it captivates the audience with the celebrity, and the stunts, but then it also adds in vital information needed. They also make sure to talk to the camera to increase the way they interact with their audience.

6.    Stand Alone/Series
Compare the market.
This is one in a series of adverts by compare the market, I like these adverts because they release a new one every now and again, to add to the story. This one however is a sad one about them leaving a companion. I feel that this would work towards sales of those who would like the special offer toy, that is limited addition. It is a very good use of CG and sound effects to create a heart wrenching story.
